So... my last post was on August 31st and I said I would update the following day. Clearly it didn't happen. Moving on.

Things were a little... I won't say rough, but uncomfortable for the past couple weeks. My other two roommates, Sara and Virginia seemed nice, but they turned out to be epic partiers; the night before classes started, they had like ten or more people over and I had to go out and tell them to quiet down so I could sleep. From there, things didn't get any better. They would tell me that I was welcome to come out and socialize with them, but every time I'd try they would look at me like "WTF, what are you doing, go back to your room". They would also have people over every night. To be fair, they were fellow international students and they were doing homework, but dear god they were LOUD. And singing! In Spanish! There is not much harder than trying to do homework while people are singing in Spanish!

I will admit that my being uncomfortable was not completely their fault... it's going to sound that way, but it really wasn't. I had been helping them with things while they were still overseas, getting them information and such, and it somehow turned into me feeling like I had to be the mother hen of the suite. I didn't want that position and I don't think they wanted anyone to have that position. Also, two of them plan on having their boyfriends over for an undisclosed amount of time and god knows I am not getting in the middle of that. In the end, I decided it would be best for me to move out. Which I did.

I contacted Luis, the hall director and scheduled to meet with him yesterday. I got all the paperwork done and spent yesterday moving exactly one floor below where I had been previously living. Yup, I went from 442c to 342c. What a difference it's made already! My new roommates are Alicia, Alyssa and Kayla; the first two are super nice and they kind of remind me of Faye and Dora from Questionable Content, which is awesome. Kayla is very quiet and keeps to herself, but she too seems nice. Alicia and Alyssa are loud, but it's a good loud; they laugh and carry on but they go out of their way to include me in the carrying on. Alicia came into my room and asked if I wanted to watch Stepbrothers with her and Alyssa last night. I felt bad, but I respectfully declined; I really don't like that movie and my skills in the "fake enjoyment" category are really crap. I was honest with Alicia though and told her I didn't want to spoil her favorite movie for her and she was okay with that ^_^ Just as I was okay with them not wanting to watch "Sherlock" with me :D

I like it a lot in my new room. Its a bit warm at the moment, so I may need to get a fan eventually. The room is exactly like the old one, save for the fact that the bed is lower down. I may raise it, but not as much as the last bed was. I didn't really like needing a stool to climb into bed, but having the bed up a little bit higher may be nice.

What else has been happening... I've discovered that I genuinely enjoy football. Before it was something that I would just have on as background noise, but I actually watched a football game, the NFL season opener between the Saints and the Packers, and I enjoyed it very much! Because of this, I decided to join "Purple Reign", the campus pep squad. They gather at home games for various sports and for each event you attend, you get points towards prizes. I'm not really in it for the prizes, I'd rather go to enjoy the games and meet new people. Looking forward to the next game, especially since Alicia said she'd go with me :D

I've made some new friends :D I went to the campus knitting group last Thursday, which is FILLED with Doctor Who fans, and met Kyra and Christina. I've been hanging out with them on and off for the past few days and I like them both. Kyra, with her friend (and now my friend) Nikki came over to Starin last Saturday night and we marathoned "Sherlock" =D Kyra had only seen A Study in Pink and Nikki hadn't seen any of it. We went straight through from 5ish to around 11:30, stopping for maybe half an our to run and grab food. I've discovered that salt on corn dogs is quite yummy =D

Today at 11, I have to meet with my Social Problems group to work on a presentation we have due on the 30th. I somehow managed to pound out the majority of my project on Sunday while listening to the Packers game. I need to listen to football while doing homework more often. After that, I'll be power reading so that I don't have anything extra to do tomorrow when Kay comes to visit :D I have to go to the post office to mail Marah's birthday gifts home and find something to put in Wasabi's tank...

I don't think I've mentioned Wasabi. Wasabi is my fish, whom I've had a little over a week. He had friends, Ginger and Sushi. They decided they didn't like living. I'm sad, but they were walmart fish and I honestly didn't expect them to last all that long. Wasabi is a bit strange; he tries to swim into the filter (please, no Nemo jokes. I've heard them all), likes to hide behind it and I've honestly thought more than once he was dead, only to have him start darting around the tank like mad. I've decided that I need to get him a friend and/or a little cave thing that he can hide in. There's a pet store in Whitewater, might try to walk to it, or beg Kay to drive me :D

I think that's about it for me. I will honestly try to update again soon. Not saying tomorrow, but this week or next week for sure.
